Licensed insulation contractor in Toronto. Spray foam, batt, and blown-in insulation for new builds and renovations. $10M insured. Free quotes.
Ontario's energy code requirements have tightened significantly, and proper insulation is the single most impactful factor in a building's energy performance. Konstruction Group installs spray foam, batt, blown-in, and specialty insulation for new construction, renovations, and retrofits across the GTA. We help builders and homeowners meet the R-value targets specified in the Ontario Building Code — whether that's R-22 walls in a new custom home, R-60 attics in an energy retrofit, or continuous insulation on a commercial building envelope. Our installers understand air barrier continuity, vapour retarder placement, and the thermal bridging details that determine whether insulation actually performs to its rated value.
Choosing the right insulation means matching the product to the application. Closed-cell spray foam delivers the highest R-value per inch and doubles as an air and vapour barrier — ideal for basement walls, rim joists, and cathedral ceilings where space is tight. Open-cell spray foam provides excellent air sealing and soundproofing at a lower cost, making it popular for interior walls and attic cavities. Fiberglass and mineral wool batts remain the most cost-effective choice for standard wall cavities and attic floors where proper installation can be achieved. Blown-in cellulose fills irregular cavities and existing walls during retrofits. We install all four types and advise on the best fit based on your project's energy targets, budget, and building assembly.
New construction projects get insulation right from the start — we insulate during the optimal window after framing and mechanical rough-in, before drywall. Renovation projects require careful assessment of existing conditions, especially in older Toronto homes where original insulation may be deteriorated, insufficient, or absent. We also handle specialty projects including shipping container conversions, garden suites, soundproofing between residential units, and ductwork insulation for HVAC efficiency. Because we also provide framing and drywall, we coordinate the full sequence — ensuring insulation is inspected and approved before our drywall crews board over it.

Batt insulation costs $1.50–$3.50 per square foot installed. Spray foam insulation costs $2.50–$5.00 per square foot for open-cell and $4.00–$8.00 per square foot for closed-cell. The right choice depends on the application — spray foam provides higher R-value per inch and acts as an air barrier, while batt is more cost-effective for standard wall cavities.
Ontario Building Code (SB-12, Climate Zone 6) requires minimum R-60 for attics, R-31 for flat roofs, R-22 for above-grade exterior walls, and R-20 for basement walls. These are minimum values — exceeding them improves energy efficiency and can reduce heating costs by 20–30% in Toronto winters.
Closed-cell spray foam (2-lb density) provides R-6.5 to R-7.0 per inch, acts as its own vapour barrier, and adds structural rigidity. Open-cell spray foam (0.5-lb density) provides R-3.5 to R-4.0 per inch, offers superior sound dampening, and costs less but requires a separate vapour retarder. Closed-cell is ideal for basements and exterior walls; open-cell works well for interior partitions and attics.
Most residential insulation projects take 1–3 days per floor. A full-home spray foam job (walls + attic) typically takes 2–3 days. Batt insulation is faster — a full floor can be completed in 1 day. We schedule around other trades to avoid delays in your construction timeline.
In some cases, yes. Blown-in insulation (cellulose or fibreglass) can be injected into existing wall cavities through small holes that are patched afterward. For attics, blown-in insulation is added on top of existing material. However, for spray foam or full batt replacement, drywall removal is usually required to access the cavities.
